British Airways Gold status is the pinnacle of airline travel status, offering OneWorld Emerald status and an abundance of benefits. From first-class check-in, first-class lounges, and complimentary upgrades, you can't really go wrong. The most important perks are the following:
Access to first-class check-in counters
Access to first-class lounges (plus one guest)
An additional 32Kg check-in luggage regardless of travel class
100% bonus avios when travelling
Access to seats 1A and 1K when travelling in first-class
Unlocking ANY reward seats by using double the required avios
Complimentary seat choice for you and your travel companions
Usually achieving Gold status requires LOTS of travelling. For example, if you were to only fly from London to New York in business class you would need just over 5 round-trip trips booked in cash, often priced at £3,500+ (if you are lucky), in total £17,500 that needs to be flown in 12-months. However, we found a way to achieve Gold status at the price of £2,250.
The itinerary is complex and long, but we believe it's worth it for enjoying these perks for 24 months. You will have to fly roundtrip from Larnaca, Cyprus to Honolulu, Hawaii (20,000 miles) with stops in London, New York, and Los Angeles. The trip can take anywhere from 35 hours to 50 hours, but it is all in business and first-class and can me this trip less daunting and tiring. After completing this trip you will earn 1,000 tier points and you will be just 125 tier points short from earning the required 1,125 tier points required of earning gold status in 2022, due to the current reduced threshold.
To book this itinerary is quite complex and requires a few tricks. If you are interested in booking the aforementioned itinerary please contact us directly on Instagram @savethetraveller.
